Nearly 300Ā bochurimĀ in the Yeshiva and Mechina learn Sefer Chofetz Chaim (or other Shmiras HaLashon-relatedĀ chiburim) six days a week. This Chabura, which was started by the bochurim themselves, had reached the end of the Sefer, and gathered to beĀ misayimĀ with aĀ bakavodikke Seuda.
Following the Hadran for the Sefer Chofetz Chaim, the Rosh Yeshiva, Harav Aharon Feldman shlitāa,Ā started off the evening withĀ divrei chizukĀ and a phrase which highlighted the theme of the evening’s event. “ā¦The definition of a human being is that he speaks ā not that he thinks, but that he speaks.” How important words are, and how big of an impact we can make,Ā bein litov bein limootav, isĀ taloiĀ not on theĀ machshavaĀ rather theĀ dibur. TheĀ Rosh YeshivaĀ concluded with a thank you and aĀ brachaĀ to theĀ bochurimĀ in theĀ ChaburaĀ for raising theĀ YeshivaĀ andĀ MechinaĀ a notch inĀ ruchniyus.
“Hadibur Hu Ha’adam, V’ha’adam Hu Hadibur” were the words reverberating around the room. The fieryĀ ShmuessĀ which ensued was the typical homogeneous mixture of just the rightĀ ma’amarei Chazal, funny anecdotes, andĀ gishmak gadol ma’asimĀ that one would expect from Rav Meir Rottenberg, 12thĀ gradeĀ Maggid ShiurĀ in Rav Slanger’sĀ Yeshiva. After his uplifting speech, he wasĀ misayimĀ withĀ divrei BrachaĀ that theĀ bnei hachaburaĀ shouldĀ vaxĀ oisĀ and should beĀ bonehĀ with theirĀ dibur.
What a beautiful way to bring theĀ Chofetz Chaim‘s dream to fruition; a dream of aĀ Clal YisroelĀ who are aware of the severity ofĀ lashon hara, knowledgeable of itsĀ halachos, and inspired to use theirĀ ruach mimalilaĀ to goĀ lāeila ulāeila.
