Ehrlich Hachnosas Sefer Torah

Ehrlich Hachnosas Sefer Torah

On Sunday, February 6th Yeshivas Ner Yisroel held an Hachnosas Sefer Torah on campus. The Torah was donated by Mrs. Helen Ehrlich of Los Angeles, California. Mrs. Ehrlich was introduced to Ner Yisroel by Mr. Menachem Klein, also of Los Angeles.  Mr. Klein is a longtime supporter of the Yeshiva whose son’s Calev, Reuven and Yehuda Klein and son-in-law Shimon Beinstock are Ner Yisroel alumni.

The festivities began with a gala lunch held in the Yeshiva’s new Ateres Lea Simcha Room.  Members of the Yeshiva Hanhala, including various Rabbeim, Rabbi Boruch Neuberger and the Rosh HaYeshiva Moreinu HaRav Aharon Feldman shlit”a, joined Mr. Menachem Klein, his sons Reuven and Yehuda Klein and friends and family to marvel at the beautiful new sefer.  Divrei bracha were given by the Rosh HaYeshiva shlit”a as well as by Mr. Klein.  Both remarked at the hashgacha of this event taking place in the newly renovated dining facility, which the Klein family had a major hand in.  After lunch the procession to bring the new sefer to the Yeshiva Beis Medrash began.

The Talmidei HaYeshiva, Mechina and Kollel led the procession from the dining room to the Yeshiva Beis Medrash.  Amidst live music and lively singing and dancing the sefer was brought to its new home inside the Ner Yisroel Aron Kodesh.  Families and children from Yeshiva Lane as well as from the greater Baltimore community came to watch and participate in this event of Kavod HaTorah.

Mrs. Ehrlich and a brother were the only members of her family to survive the Second World War.   She decided to dedicate a Sefer Torah in memory of her parents who perished in the Holocoust and her brother.  May its use in Yeshivas Ner Yisroel be a zechus for her for many years to come.
