On Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 4th & 5th, Yeshivas Ner Yisroel hosted a special Yarchei Kallah for Roshei Kollel of Community Kollelim. Thirteen Kollelim from around the country participated in the event. Rabbi Doniel Pranksy, Rosh Kollel of the Atlanta Scholars Kollel, Rabbi Menachem Winter, Rosh Kollel of the Greater Washington Community Kollel, and Rabbi Avrohom David, Rosh Kollel of the Seattle Community Kollel, organized the Yarchei Kallah and approached the Yeshiva months ago to host the event on its campus.
The Roshei Kollel spent the two days immersed in the Koslei Bais Medrash preparing for and hearing a daily iyun shiur on the sugya d’kallah, Rodef, from Harav Tzvi Berkowitz and Harav Tzvi Einstadter. The Yarchei Kallah’s goal was to enable the Roshei Kollel to reinvigorate themselves with serious learning, while getting chizuk, and hissorerus. They spent an hour and a half posing questions to and receiving hadracha from the Rosh Hayeshiva, HaRav Aharon Feldman shlit”a. Over the two days, in addition to the daily shiur, they had the opportunity to hear Shiurim from Harav Sholom Kamenetzky, Rosh Hayeshiva Philadelphia Yeshiva, and Harav Shraga Neuberger. They also spent time in a number of sessions discussing various topics relevant to out-of-town Kollelim. These were led by the Rabbi Yaakov Hopfer, Rosh Vaad Harabbonim of Baltimore, and Rabbi Sroy Levitansky, National Director for Community Development at BMG, as well as round table discussions led by Rabbi Menachem Winter and Rabbi Avrohom David.
The highlight of the event took place during lunch on Tuesday afternoon, when the Roshei Kollel presented the growth opportunities that exist for members of out-of-town Kollelim to over 50 members of Kollel Avodas Levi. Following the presentations, the members of the Kollel had a networking session with the Roshei Kollel and were able to ask more in depth questions.
Rabbi Boruch Danzinger, alumnus and Rosh Kollel of the Norfolk Kollel, commented, “Bringing together Roshei Kollel from across the country provided an extraordinary opportunity for inspiration, brainstorming, and practical problem solving. More than anything, it allowed the younger Roshei Kollel to benefit from the insight and wisdom of their more seasoned colleagues.”
